Building construction highlights from November 2023

Investment in Nova Scotia building construction increased 9.1% in November 2023 to $528.8 million.

• Halifax monthly building construction increased 8.6% to $278.1 million and outside of Halifax building construction was up 9.5% to $250.7 million.
• Nationally, investment in building construction increased 1.7% with gains in 5 of 10 provinces.
  • The largest increase was in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia’s non-residential building construction increased 3.1% to $88.5 million.

• In Halifax, non-residential construction was up 1.1% to $58.0 million. Outside of Halifax, non-residential construction was up 7.1% to $30.4 million.
• National non-residential building construction increased 0.4% in November 2023 with gains in seven provinces, led by Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan.
