N.S. construction groups call for international talent to reduce labour shortages
From Global News – “I think we’re looking at every possible avenue,” says Duncan Williams, President and CEO of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia.
“We’re looking at high schools, more direct entry into the apprenticeship system, and then of course we’re trying to speed up programming at the community college. So, we’re trying to address this by pulling all of the tools out of the toolbox at the same time.
“These are growing pains that we’ve not experienced in many generations. In the past, I’ve used wartime effort, and that’s really what this is. It’s all levels of government, industry and partners coming together and focusing in on this. I’m very confident that we did it then, we can do it now.”
