After carefully considering all ongoing developments and public health recommendations regarding COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, we regret to announce the remaining stages of the 2020 BFY program are cancelled. This includes Construction Safety Awareness Training at NSCC and all BFY summer co-op work placements.
The Construction Association of Nova Scotia and all program partners prioritize safety above all else, and while we are disappointed, we are confident the correct decision has been made in the interest of students, families, teachers, host employers and all NS communities.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Morgan Dalrymple – BFY Program Lead at mdalrymple@cans.ns.ca or 902-817-5214.
Our thoughts are with the all of the families and communities impacted by Sunday’s senseless tragedy. We mourn with you during this time of grief.
Join CANS on Friday, April 24 at 3:00 PM for a virtual De-Icer happy hour. The Construction Association of Nova Scotia has partnered with Home Depot PRO to bring you an hour of entertainment and fun, featuring performances by musician Jeff Bonang. Feeling lucky? Home Depot is offering $1,500 worth of prizes for attendees, in draws held throughout the hour.
CANS staff will continue to work remotely the week of April 19, 2020, based on the advice of public health officials. All digital services remain active. Please understand there may be delays in certain CANS services but we are actively working on to keep any issues minimal.

Dear CANS Members,
On behalf of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), we are asking you to support their urgent request of the federal government to create an Emergency COVID-19 Construction Cost Reimbursement Program. This program would be intended to alleviate some of the financial pressure the industry is experiencing throughout the ongoing pandemic. Take action now, send a letter to your MP.
