CANS Spring Fling Cancelled for 2020

With the current pandemic top of mind, CANS board of directors and management are carefully monitoring and proactively planning to ensure that we do our part to limit the spread of the virus. To this end, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Spring Fling, which had been planned for May 28th, 2020.

The Spring Fling will return on May 27, 2021, and we look forward to your enthusiastic involvement. We will continue to monitor and evaluate our operational activities. As this situation continues to evolve, we will update you on any changes in our planned activities.

CANS Board of Director Applications Due Friday, May 15

CANS is seeking two individuals to join our industry-based Board of Directors. If you are interested in rolling up your sleeves, getting involved and advancing the interests of our industry, we want to hear from you before Friday, May 15 at 4:00 p.m.!

Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria as determined by our governance matrix:

  • Are a female industry professional who is in a middle-to-senior role within your firm
  • Are a small-to-medium-sized contractor
  • Are based in rural NS, specifically the South Shore and/or CBRM
  • Are a member of an under-represented community
  • Have expertise in industry and government relations, standard practices or advocacy

BFY & CANS Construction Connection Program – Virtual Q&A Will Help Youth Explore Construction Careers from Home

Just because we’re social distancing doesn’t mean we can’t safely explore careers in construction together! Do you know any youth who are eager to learn more about a career in construction and the trades? Share this information with them! They’ll be able to explore careers in construction from the comfort of home with our upcoming series of virtual Q&A sessions.

Every Thursday from May 7 – June 15, Building Futures for Youth and CANS Construction Connection will host virtual Q&A sessions with successful local tradespeople and construction professionals.
