About the project:

The Mariners Centre’s expansion in Southwest Nova Scotia aims to serve the community for the next 50 years by providing enhanced sports, entertainment and wellness offerings. This project focuses on inclusivity and accessibility, particularly benefiting seniors and underrepresented groups.

Expansion Priorities:
  • Aquatics Centre: A 25-meter, six-lane pool for various uses including therapy, fitness and competitions.
  • Fitness Centre: Designed for all ages, with a focus on senior wellness.
  • Multi-purpose Spaces: For diverse programming and events.
  • Indoor Walking Track: A year-round, accessible walking space.
  • Design & Location: The one-level building on the northeast side of the property will emphasize energy efficiency and minimal disruption. Accessibility is a priority, and the building will feature universal change rooms for privacy and inclusivity.

The expanded Mariners Centre will be a modern, inclusive hub for sports, wellness, and community events, designed to meet evolving community needs.
