The Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) is committed to actively engaging in the 2024 Provincial election, ensuring that our members’ priorities and the construction industry’s key issues are front and centre for all candidates. As information becomes available, CANS will be your resource for election-related updates. Our election portal will offer essential tools and information to help you stay informed and make your voice heard.

Through our portal, you can expect to access:

  • Voter Eligibility and Registration: Find out who is eligible to vote in the upcoming election and get step-by-step guidance on how to register.
  • Key Dates: Stay informed about important election deadlines, including voter registration cutoffs, advance polling dates and the election day itself.
  • Candidate Information: Access profiles of the candidates running for office in your district. Learn about their platforms, priorities, and positions on key issues affecting the construction industry.
  • Polling Locations and Hours: Easily find your polling station, with information on its location and operating hours. This section will include details on early voting options and accessibility services.
  • Results: Once the election is over, our portal will provide official election results as they become available.

Key election information — Where, when, how to vote

Who is eligible to vote?

To be eligible to vote in the Provincial election, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older on Tuesday, November 26, 2024
  • A Canadian citizen
  • Live in Nova Scotia since April 27, 2024 (six months prior to the date the by-election was called)

Important 2024 election dates for voters

  • Saturday, November 16 – Saturday, November 23: Advance polls open
    • Open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Closed on Sundays
    • Open for extended hours on Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 26: Election day
    • Voting will be open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on election day
