Our thoughts are with the all of the families and communities impacted by Sunday’s senseless tragedy. We mourn with you during this time of grief.
Emily Tuck was among those killed in this weekend’s horrific events. Emily was a grade 12 student at Cobequid Education Centre in Truro. She participated in the Building Futures for Youth program as a grade 11 in 2019 and was particularly interested in welding. She completed her summer work placement with Global Construction Maritimes and was hired for the remainder of the summer after she completed her work placement. Pictured is a photo of Emily during her work placement with Global Construction Maritimes and one of her with her fellow Building Futures for Youth classmates.
RCMP Constable, Heidi Stevenson, died in the line of duty. Her husband, Dean Stevenson, has been a long-time Building Futures for Youth champion and student placement supervisor at Cole Harbour District High School.
To the Tuck and Stevenson families – we can’t imagine the heartbreak you are living, but know that all of us from the Construction Association of Nova Scotia and the Building Futures for Youth team, are thinking of you during this time.
