Safety alert – Work platform prohibition
The Safety Branch of Labour, Skills, and Immigration would like to inform workplaces about work platform prohibition.
Occupational Health & Safety Officers have observed workers are being lifted onto platforms that are attached to equipment that is not specifically designed for this purpose. This includes any machine that was not specifically designed as a work platform, including but not limited to powered mobile equipment such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, skidders, scoops and similar pieces of equipment.
In Nova Scotia, this practice is strictly prohibited due to the significant safety risks it poses to workers.
