COVID-19 Update for CANS Members – June 15, 2021

The following message was sent Tuesday, June 15, 2021. We encourage CANS member firms to review the relevant recommendations and follow current public health measures. 

Nova Scotia’s Reopening Plan

Nova Scotia will officially enter Phase Two of the Government of Nova Scotia’s Reopening Plan as of June 16, 2021. Read more.

Highlights from Phase Two:

  • Meetings and Training – up to 10 people indoors and 25 people maximum outdoors when meetings and training are hosted by a business or organization.
  • Travel within NS – No restriction on travel within Nova Scotia. Travel is permitted within Nova Scotia (you can travel outside your community).
  • Shopping and Retail – All retail stores can operate at 50% of the store’s capacity (shoppers and staff).
  • Informal Social Gathering Limit – up to 10 people (household members and visitors) without social distancing and masks; Outdoors is up to 25 people without social distancing.
Nova Scotia Reopening Border to Atlantic Canada

Nova Scotia is lifting its border restrictions and opening to the rest of Atlantic Canada on June 23, Premier Iain Rankin announced on June 15.

This means that residents of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador can travel to Nova Scotia and will not be required to self-isolate for 14 days on entering the province. Read the full announcement here.

Webinar: Vaccinations, Worksite Safety and the Legal Considerations

Join Construction Safety Nova Scotia (CSNS) and panelists Brad Proctor and David Fraser as they provide their legal expertise in the issue of mandating vaccinations in the construction sector.

Rapid Testing Available Through NS Workplace Screening Program

Any businesses or organization who is interested in offering COVID-19 screening for employees is invited to participate in this program, regardless of size. Businesses will need to complete the Workplace Rapid Screening Program form to start the process to set up the program for your business or organization.

After completing the form, it should take 2 business days to receive information about next steps.

Continue Regular COVID-19 Testing 

Everyone should get tested regularly for COVID-19, even if you have no or only mild symptoms. Book an appointment for a standard test at a primary assessment centre. Rapid testing is available without appointment at pop-up sites. Visit the Nova Scotia Health Authority website for more information about testing.

Second Dose Rescheduling: Second dose appointments are being rescheduled for an earlier date. You’ll receive an email when it’s your turn to reschedule your second dose appointment. If you didn’t provide an email when you booked your appointment, call 1-833-797-7772 to reschedule or provide your email address.
